Ok, I am a below avg. cadidate I guess:
U.S. M.D. school, 1 clerkship honored, way below avg. yet still passing USMLE score (sub 200). Zero research/extracurrics. OK letters of rec but hopefully 1 letter from a 'big name' that might make or break me. Question is, with 6 interviews so far, 30 programs applied to:
When can I feel safe that I will most likely match? Obviously I put some dream programs on my list of 30, but what would a good number of interviews to plan on doing be?
I guess with my stats I hadn't expected to have this many pre-Deans letter release date. I did apply to some places that geographically are way less than desirable to me. Any thoughts on where the line is between too many interviews and rankings and not enough? It's just so hard, I mean I'd really like to match at one place over another, but I'd rather match anesthesia in Iowa (not to cut on Iowa but I like water and hills) than not at all.
Confusing.
