If I have heard right, there are now 8 blocks of questions, with 46 questions per block. That would be a total of 368 questions.

Does anybody know how many more questions, on average, you would have to get right to get a 240 vs. a 220?

Or, does anybody just know on average what percentages typically give you certain scores? Like on Kaplan Qbank, they give you an estimated score based on your percentage. Anybody have anything similar for Step 1?

There are 7 blocks of questions (1 block is a break), for a total of 322.

Also, there is no set correlation between percentage correct and score per se. Every test is different and the difficulty is probably somewhat different. Therefore they use statistical methods to correlate everyone's score. From what I read, it is usually 60-70% correct to pass.

Hmmm... So on the Kaplan Qbank, if you get 60% on it it estimates your score will be a 227. I think UWorld is pretty similar.

So, 60% on Kaplan and UWorld = Okay. 60% on the real thing = barely passing? I think you are right, though, rem6775. Doh!

Anybody else heard anything about percentages and real step 1 scores?

but how does that make sense since Uworld/kaplan are supposed to be like the real thing?

According to the USMLE website, the minimum passing score corresponds to 60-70% correct answers.

Do most people tend to have at least a passing score when they begin preparation?
How many months/weeks before the exam should you at least be getting a passing score in order to do well?

You will find more than you ever wanted to know about this question from here: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=697943

There's no easy way to say what most people are getting before they begin preparation because everyone is so different. I've seen scores ranging from 190 to 250 (pre-prep scores on diagnostics).
