How many of youse have hypertension?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Might be time to schedule an appt with your PCP just to see. Im really young and sometimes mine runs rather high but everytime I go get it checked its in normal range for my age. My diet is terrible though so I wouldnt be surprised if I ended up having it one day.

Me. I think at least 75% of it is white coat/stress though.

Been on an ARB for a couple years. My dad was having heart attacks when he was younger than I currently am. Mom had quadruple bypass last year. My diet is okay, neither horrible nor great. At the moment I’m not exercising enough, although my BP was high a few years ago when I was bicycling ~100 miles/week. I’m pretty well controlled with my med, but occasionally I’ll work a bad retail shift and it’ll get a bit elevated.

I put off getting my BP seen about for a few years even though I knew it was high. I assumed that if I denied it the problem would go away. It didn’t.

Interestingly, my cholesterol and triglycerides could not be much more perfect.

I gained 20 lbs the last month, god damn holiday meals and desserts.

I checked it when my grandma asked me to set up her machine and again today at the pharmacy.

Apparently 2 small bottles of water isn’t enough water daily. I only pee like twice a day, so I might be dehydrated also.

Mine is always hovering around 125-135... Never do anything about it. Maybe, I should be on some ACEs.

Weight gain can really wreck your BP/diabetes status. I'm lucky I'm always at a stable weight 175-180 lb 6'0.

That's the pharmaceutical care of the day...

Should Sparda:
A. Relax with a couple of unusually shaped cigarettes, lower his blood pressure, but get the munchies and weight gain.

B. Embark on a New Year's resolution to abstain from any unusually shaped cigarettes or brownies, loses weight, but higher blood pressure.

Your GFR is probably in the toilet.

To your kidneys, F

Im always a smidge over the 130/80 cutoff at work. Last time it was 123/83 which on repeat was like 120/80

Ive had this problem since I was like 20. Except now I drink a ton of water, am a healthy BMI, get 10k steps most days, weight train, run 5ks with no notice needed, maybe a week or two for a half marathon....still have higher BP 🙁

Started drinking a lot of water and barely smoked hookah last night, it was 140/80 when I woke up. I started reading about aortic dissections and scared the hell out of myself.

Gonna see what happens if I completely cut out the hookah. (Hookah = fruit flavored tobacco smoked from water pipe, typically I probably sit on my computer playing PUBG or CSGO from 12AM-3AM constantly smoking hookah).

Sounds like a good idea, maybe limit the vidya for tonight as well and get your 8 hours, just to see if either of the two is affecting it.

Does marijuana lower blood pressure?

I think I'm gonna switch over to vaping wax/shatter or infused gummy bears instead of burning leaf (burning leaf or burning tobacco, still inhaling combusted material)

So I've been taking Benicar HCTZ for 3 days now along with swimming for an hour and then one of the power lifts + corresponding workouts (deadlift + lowback/hammies day, bench press + chest/triceps day, squat + quads + lower legs + abs day, shoulder press + upper back + biceps day) each day. Woke up today to a BP of 105/60, feel pretty fatigued though.

Nicotine will raise your blood pressure, as will poor sleep.

You know hookah is just as bad (likely worse) than cigs? Good luck with your BP goals for 2019.

CDC - Fact Sheet - Hookahs - Smoking & Tobacco Use
I have always heard that flavored tobacco like hookah is worse due to the fact it is usually more palatable/enjoyable to smoke, therefore people end up smoking more of it than they would regular, unflavored cigarettes or the like, causing more harm.

I can't stand cigarettes, never liked them because they taste nasty. Hookah is definitely more fun because of the different flavors you can do (I usually toss some grape flavored tobacco on top of a fresh grapefruit that I use as a bowl), then I fill up the base with 1/2 water 1/2 grape juice. The smoke tastes like Welch's grape juice.

My BP topped around 160s a while back when i still worked retail. Two weeks after i quit my job, i was down to the 130s. I didn't change my diet or lifestyle in anyway. The only difference was i just wasn't in the pharmacy. White coat stress is real.

You know that's not the definition of white coat syndrome, right? >_>;

You know what I want to figure out, why do so many doctor's offices put the damn news on TV? Like wtf? People don't need to hear the news and get scared/worked up in the waiting room. Imagine sitting in a waiting room for an hour and all you're hearing is, "drug recall, terrorist attack, Trump, school shooting, etc, etc".

Put some music videos on, some nature show about Space or something.

I was waiting for my kid to come out of minor surgery and they had Trump talking about how terrible the latest school shooting was. Fun stuff
