How many people apply to dental school each year? Is the pool getting bigger or is it just more competitive?

Last year I believe it was around 11,000 applicants for 4,500 seats.

Those stats don't seem so bad... a little less than half get to go. I thought it was much worse.

I'm not sure about 95%+ being 3.5 and 20 DAT. There are plenty of 3.0-3.5 with 20+ out there as well as 3.5+ and 18-20 DAT.

dental is still more competitive by number compared to medical school.
Med gets about 35,000 total apps for 18,000+ spots not including caribbean schools

dental is like 11 to 12,000 total apps for 4600 slots

its a 50%ish chance in med while dental is more closer to 30-33%ish

I felt it went well. I was only asked 3 questions in the hour we were in the interview. Alas we were right on the bubble and our apps wont be reviewed until their next round on the 15th of Jan.

I am not sure who Brian Huan is, but that number absolutely wrong. According to James Chonte, the Director of Predoctoral Application Service - ADEA, in his AADSAS Weekly Updates for the 2008 application cycle that is sent to admissions officers, as of November 9 there were 9865 applicants down 91 from last year at this point.

Its actually Chonte James, a woman, and she is an idiot. I've spoken to her a number of times and she is completely incompetent, so I wouldn't be suprised if she is wrong.
