how many readers did you all have for your secondaries?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
One (my bf) for most schools. He was basically reading for grammar and flow. If I knew someone with a connection to a certain school, I asked them to read for content.

No one. I feel like there were so many essays it would have taken a long time to have someone proofread everything. I didn't have anyone read my personal statement either (gasp lol), and I've received compliments on it from two different interviewers so far. I think if you are a good writer, secondaries aren't too big of a deal as far as having a second reader. I would recommend using Grammarly to make sure you don't have any spelling/grammar mistakes.

My main readers were a current medical school student, one English major friend, and a current doctor, but they only read through the secondaries from my top choice schools and my primary app. So far the interview invites are from schools they haven't looked over so hmm.....

Edit: forgot to say I'm terrible at essays so I always find my best essays are when someone reviews them

I feel like the vast majority of people should have their secondaries edited. I'm not a bad writer by any means, but I benefitted a lot from 1-3 readers for each secondary. You don't want to risk losing an II because of poor writing. But for those who got II's without reviewers, kudos to you.

How do you find people to look at 20+ secondaries... I feel like I'm a bother when I asked people to look at my personal statement after two or three rounds of edits

I get how you feel, I always feel like I'm such a bother >.< But after this pandemic is over, I'd treat all my readers to a nice meal or buy them a nice gift. I try to ask different readers so one person isn't just reading like 10 schools. And some secondaries are similar enough that once they're finalized, you don't need to ask a reader to go through them again.

My boyfriend helped me edit and make sure narrative was good, He was the only person I got to look at my secondaries.
