My undergrad school doesnt have a pre-med committee letter so I am sending 2 science and 1 non-science to most of the med school schools i am applying to instead. On the secondaries it says send the 3 letters, but I am wondering can I send 2 additional ones, 1 from a doctor i worked for and the other from a program director? To most of the schools i would be sending 5 letters, but I see that they only mention the prof recommendations. Would it be bad idea to send additional recs to the schools.

thanks

i dont see why not. my premed advisor told us to have 5 letters (1 clinical, 2 science, 1 non-science, 1 from PI usually). that's what i'm planning to send. i've only looked at one secondary, from wash u. it asks for only 3 letters, but gives you 5 slots so i'm assuming you can send more than the required 3.

You can normally send more recs unless they ask you to NOT send more than three. In some cases if you get waitlisted sending an extra rec can help your case when they are reevaluating you. I would just email the school and see if htey accept more than 3 LORs.
