how many schools are you guys applying?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I applied to 19 schools, I don't think I would do that again! I would suggest 10-15, less if you have a state school.

I applied to 6 this cycle. If I have to give it another go I'll apply to at least 10 with more emphasis on private schools. State schools usually have very limited spots for out of staters, so besides my in state school, I will focus on private schools and state schools whose students have similar stats as mine to increase my odds.

i applied to 10. predents has individual profiles that tell you how many schools each of us applied to.

I am going to apply to 20 this upcoming 2009 cycle.

I am an international. I applied for 6 schools this cycle, got 2 interviews and got accepted into one. 😉
But, I think it's better if you apply for at least 10 schools. And, yes, you will have a privilege when you apply for in-state schools. For example, there were 2981 applicants into UNLV (nevada) this cycle. There were only 151 in-state applicants while the rest (more than 2800) were out-state ones. 😱And, UNLV wanted about 50 in-state and about 30 out-state.

Apply to about 10 schools. Include your own state school or neighboring state schools if you don't have schools in your own state.

I'm applying to 6...there are 3 others that I'm still undecided on though.

i've looked into 22 schools that i'm interested in. realistically, in may when i have more time to research them (less school/work), it'll probably narrow down to ~15.

i only applied to 3. got in all of them, though 🙂

That is some pretty bad odds to get in as an OOS.
