I am beginning my applications for the Fall '11 school year and have come across several technicalities that have forced me to eliminate a few of my top choices. I've had to eliminate Texas Women's University and may eliminate UTHSC-SA. That leaves me with UTMB and Texas Tech. I have my doubts about Tech due to their early application deadline being so soon, and I may not make it. After reviewing my options, I can't help but feel panicked. So I'm wondering, How many schools is considered to norm to apply to? I know that seats are extremely limited, so I'm worried that depending on only these two schools will backfire.

I am going to apply to four schools in NJ/NY (Downstate, NYU, Kean, & Stockton).. I would like to apply to more but I don't want to bombard my professors with recommendation forms. I'm freaking out too- but that's pretty normal for me.

Have you thought about looking into schools outside of Texas?

To both LonghornOT and Laurp0233,

Apply to more places!!! This year I only applied to 4 schools, 1. NYU, 2. Columbia, 3. Kean and 4. Seton Hall and was rejected at the last two and wait-listed at the first two. The biggest thing I learned from this application process and its aftermath was to apply to more places!!

If you're worried about bombarding your prof's with too much paper work, give it to them months in advanced. This time around I'll be applying to about 9 or 10 schools. I'm also not going to use the same 3 people for absolutely every application, but my strongest rec will be writing to every school I apply and she's happy to. I want to get in and she wants me to get in too.

Good Luck in this whole process!

I also am applying to at least 8 schools across the US. I hope it will at least give me options. I have a spreadsheet of all the entry level MOT & OTD schools in the country. It's a mess of notes since all of the admissions criteria tend to be different everywhere! I feel the panic as well, ack!

8 schools seems like an awful lot to me -- plus, it's expensive to apply to so many. I'm going with 6, and some of them I won't apply to unless I get rejected from my top choices. I think how many schools you apply for depends on which programs you're looking at.
