I've been browsing around a lot lately and noticed that most schools will let you substitute a semester of ochem for a semester of biochem provided you took ochem your first semester.

is this common? anyone know if a large portion of schools will do this?

i go to a quarter school and 2 quarters of ochem + lab and one quarter of biochem are required for my major. the third ochem + lab would be extra. it would be great if i didn't have to take it.

if no one knows off the top of their head i could research it, but i figured i'd ask in case anyone knows if a lot of schools allow this substitution.

I wouldn't say a "large portion", but certainly a good number of schools permit biochem for Organic II. Look in the MSAR.

it just arrived today actually. is there a more efficient way to find out without just browsing through every page?

i'm probably going to make an excel spreadsheet with the info for ease of access to all the information.

Sadly, no. You have to look the pages of each school you're interested in applying to. Since you probably should have an idea of where you're applying, that will limit it a bit.
