Hey all, haven't been on here for a while now I'm back. I'm a FL resident and just graduated from FSU with a 3.73 cumulative GPA and 3.68 sciGPA and have a 25O (9 ps, 9 bs, 7 v) MCAT (third time taking it, not going to retake since this is my highest score). I am applying to Nova and LECOM-Bradenton, but what other schools do you think I should apply? I want to stay close to home (Florida) and I'm thinking about applying to PCOM-Georgia campus and VCOM as well. Feedback appreciated🙂

Good to see that some other people are only applying to a few places too.

Is it typical that Osteopathic students apply for less places than Allopathic students? I only sent my primary to 6 places, and I am not sure I want to go to 3 of those places. I'm sending in secondaries for my preferred 3 places before Oct1, but I fear that my secondaries for the other 3 places will take longer to write, which would hurt my chances of getting in, but they have insanely high tuition anyways.

Anyways, if anyone else can shed some light on how many schools you are applying to, that would be great.

My stats:
32R, GPA cumulative 3.66. (how do I check my completed AACOMAS application to see what they calculated my GPA science as?)

Applied to:
VCOM, PNWU, PC, and others ATSU, PCOM

Once your AACOMAS is processed and released to schools there will be a link on the release date on the main page when you log in. That is a link to a .pdf that shows your processed application for that school and in it is the official AACOMAS calculated GPAs.

I think you'd be safe with about 6 schools. You might consider LMU in Tennessee, CCOM or AZCOM (I know they're not all that close to Florida). It's hard to give an accurate number because the process can be so iffy.

With your GPA and being a Florida resident, I'd say you'd have a great shot at LECOM-Bradenton and Nova, but best of luck to wherever you choose to apply!

Since there are less osteopathic schools, typically students apply to less of them.

For me, I submitted my primary to 12 DO schools. After receiving 3 interview invites pretty early on I've decided not to submit my last 5 secondaries (to schools that were near the bottom of my list). So as of now i'm only applying to 7 DO schools.

Oh and you can check your GPA once you app is released to the schools, by going on ur AACOMAS homepage and clicking on the "view" button under status (a PDF will pop up for you to download and you can see all your grades and calculations). Good luck!

Thanks! apparently my science GPA is 3.4. A little low for my liking, but hope it gets me into somewhere!

My GPA is right in that area as well and I've got a handful of interviews so far, so just work hard on the secondaries you get and get them in asap. Good luck!

May I inquire which schools you applied to? I only applied to ones with really really low entry GPAs MCATs, because as long as I get in somewhere, I'm happy.

Sure, no problem! I'm sending you a PM right now...
