i got 4 on the list in my state

Downstate
NYU
Columbia
Touro

LIU said that i need to take all the classes in their bs/ms program ( 5 years) York is the same. any suggestions?

so my list is only 4 schools is that enough?

Unless you are a really strong applicant, I would apply to more. I've heard that the New York schools are very popular and Columbia is one of the top in the country.

By strong applicant I'd mean cumulative and pre-requisite GPA's well over 3.5, GRE's in the 75th percentile and above, hundreds of volunteer/observation hours, and strong letters of recommendation.

Have you visited any of those schools? Do the people on the admissions committee know anything about you already?

I'm planning on applying to about 10 schools. Basically as many as I can given a job that is sometimes 50 hours a week, taking two classes this semester, doing observations, managing chronic illness and two messy landlord situations.

That is not my impression of how the combined BS/MS for LIU is. I was accepted and was under the impression it was 3 years. They were comically disorganized by the way.

I would apply to as many schools as you have time and money for- what ever the cost is, it is cheaper than having to apply a second year!

I agree, apply to as many as you can.. That meaning whatever is feasible financially because lets be realistic applications are expensive. But I agree that applying to more is better. Sometimes you find in the application process you do not like a program as much as you did before despite all the research and the perfect location.

i have worked as a job coach for 3 years with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities
currently a supervisor at the agency that works with individuals with mental and physical disabilities and helping them learn different every day tasks.
i have also volunteered/interned at drug addiction clinic for 6 months

and last

25 hours of OT shadowing at this moment because i have no time due to my 9-5 shedule so i only can volunteer during weekends

how do i look

I'd consider taking/retaking the GRE's, if only to give yourself more options.

All I can tell you is that many schools give the average GPA of entering students, so take a look at those.

How are you able to find places to shadow on weekends? That is killing me right now, since I have a full time job. I haven't found a single place open on the weekend. I can't even get people to return my phone calls, and I'm thinking I'm going to have to take vacation days in order to shadow.

it was not easy but i did get thru the line of people who just answer the phone when you call them to ask about Shadowing. WHat i did i either asked to speak to supervisors/directors of the Rehab/OT department and there you get more information from them. Some Directors/Supervisors tell you that they do have services in the weekends and these are the one you have to pound/ass kiss with requests of acceptance. I know that after i made a list of about 40 places in brooklyn only 4 said they had some services during weekends and only one actually told me to come in for application.
