How many schools to put on AMCAS

I want to apply to as many schools as I can without looking like I am just applying everywhere. I don't want it to look like I'm desperate, but I know I can't just apply to my top choices because I don't have the greatest numbers. I have about a 3.65 overall GPA, 3.5 BCMP, and 11PS 11VR 10BS for a 32O. Can anyone give any hints as to how many I can apply to without looking bad? Thanks a lot.

just try and look at each individual school and make a pros/cons list and take it from there.

My numbers were almost exactly the same as yours, and I applied to 9 schools. However, I'm from MI, which is an amazing state to be from with numbers like this. It really depends on what state you're from...

15-20? Does that sound about right to everyone else? I was imagining that the average would be 8-10. If it's true, it makes me happy. It just sounds like a lot.

The average is about 15-20 and I applied to even more...btw I was not desperate and it NEVER came up on any interview. I wanted options.

see, i am desperate. I have about a 3.4 cumulative and a 28R MCAT. My advisor is telling me not to take the MCAT again cuz if I don't bring it up, I'll be even further behind everyone else by applying in October. So I'm thinking about 25 schools, some of which are screen schools anyway. Am I crazy?
