Did anyone else only apply to one school, or am I the only one to do it?

Last year I only applied to one school, was waitlisted but never got off of it. This year I'm applying to 13 schools. I'm guessing you are only thinking about Kirksville - KCOM? I would apply to more then one if I were you just as a precaution, you never know what will happen.

GL :hardy:

Hell no. I've never even heard of that, except with early decision applicants. I think I applied to 14 DO schools and 14 MD schools. And I reserve the right to add more.

Think hockey, not golf. The more shots on goal, the better.

Being from TX, that's really all I know about hockey.

I'm applying to 14 schools. If your desire to start med school in 2008 is greater than your desire to stay in the same place I would add some more schools.

I know it sounds crazy, but I am a graduate student at KCOM already. The grad students have a great record of matriculation, so I am not worried. I have already purchased a home and have many friends and connections here. I guess we'll see around the middle of October.:scared:

At least apply early decision, if you haven't missed the deadline. That way, if you get shot down, you've got some time to apply to other places.

If i get shot down, then I will apply to other schools. But lets hope that that doesn't happen.:luck:

I think that it is always best to assume the worst in this process. Do you have the numbers that you should be a slam dunk?

I naively applied to only one allopathic school a couple of years ago and obtained an interview early in the season. The reason I applied to only one school is due to the fact that my wife was attending another professional school in the area. Anyway, during my second interview, I was asked (not so pointedly) roughly how many medical schools I had applied. I said "one" and swore I got a surprised look from the physician interviewer. Anyway, I'll never know but I strongly suspect this hurt my chances and perhaps made it look as though I was not as serious a candidate due to this fact. I had a 1 in 6 chance of receiving an offer and ultimately, I did not. 👎 There's always been this nagging feeling that this was the reason... Just food for thought.
