My school does not have any prehealth committee letter service. Browsing through SDN, I hear people saying we should get 2 science LORs...I have been looking through MSAR and can't find any info on that...any website/resource that list the exact LOR requirements (if not prehealth committee letter available)? The schools that I'm looking into..none of their websites mention of requiring 2 science LORs..

I also came from a school with no pre-health committee. Your safest bet would be to get two science and one non-science letter. This should cover your bases for pretty much any school you'd want.

There are a few exceptions where you might need extra letters. One extra letter you might need is from the PI of a lab where you did research. Some schools (ie Harvard) require letters from every PI of every lab where you worked (but I think that might only be for one of the pathways).

You might also want a letter from a coordinator of a meaningful volunteer activity (but really, only if they know you well and can add something about your personality that adcoms might not get from your academic letters). This is almost surely optional though.

It's also good to have a "back-up" letter. One more than you need means if something does wrong and a school doesn't accept one of your letters, you already magically have a fourth uploaded to AMCAS!

The short of it: Every school is different, but 2 science and 1 non-science would be a rule to prepare by.
