I was just wondering how many foreign trained dentists actually take the test every year and how many score above a 90? Does anyone know? 😕 😕

Well, it is definitely not impossible. My question was how many score above a 90 and how many FTDs appear for the exam... just for stats... 😀Sarah123 said:Well the impression i'm getting from SDN is that alot of people score 90+ and those are the ones likely to get admission. I guess since this exam can be taken over and over a 90 + score isn't impossible.

Edit: Every FTD doesn't log on to SDN. I was looking at the report on ADA for 2003. I was wondering what it would have been in 2004 and how the FTDs have scored. Definitely on SDN, it seems like everyone's scoring above a 90. But looking at the ADA report it doesn't assure me that most FTDs score above a 90!! So was just wondering... 😛
Brilliant!!! So, UPenn gets the maximum no. of applicants? Where did you get that info from? I know NYU had more than 800 applications last year. I wish I knew how many ppl actually score over 90. And I would say there are more than 1000 applicants because, as of 2003, there were atleast 1500 students who wrote the exam for the first time and I believe in a definite increase in two years!!dentalcn said:That's a good question. I think every test taker is wondering about that. I think there is an alternative way to figour this out. Just take a look at situation in Uppen. Actually Uppen is the most popular school that every FTD would apply for because of its flexiable recruiting standard and its seats. If this is the case, the pool of Uppen applicants each year might closely stand for all the applicants in that year. As far as I know, Uppen gets more than 1000 applications each year which means about 1000 applicants ( perhaps a little bit more than that) nationwide. However it is really hard to guess how many ppl over 90+. But if you know the total number of seats for this special program nationwide, say 400 seats each year?( I am not sure, but it is easy to find out if you add them up school by school). Also because there is a very popular saying nowadays that score 90+ would be a relative safe score to secure the addimisson, if this is true, I would like to believe that about 400 ppl above 90. (maybe less than that because there are still some ppl below 90 get addimision..or maybe more because there are also some ppl over 90 get rejected...) welcome your comments!

And who was this angel who told you that? 😀Dent tex said:Hey but I came to hear that the number of people who secured above 90's are reduced this year comparetively to last year. is it true.

treasure said:It is getting very competitive these days. The higher the score the better your chances are of getting an interview call. After that the scores play a secondary role. At that point, it is the whole package that counts.
From my experience, after going for interviews I have found out that many people that I met for interviews had ascore over 90. Does that mean that most people get above 90 or that those who got less score did not get a call? I do not have an answer to that...

Now that is pretty scary!!!dentalcn said:I got this info from current students in Uppen. By the way, people who wrote the exam don't necessary mean they are qualified to apply. What if the score under 80? ppl whose score under 80 would definately not apply because the chance is so slim, it is just like waste of money...I believe all applicants score over 80 (even though the pass line set at 75). Among 1000+ applicants in Uppen, only 300 ppl get chance for interview. If the number of applicants per year is about 1000, as I said all these ppl's scores are over 80, then I would think that about 400 ppl whose score is over 90 is reasonable.
Yes, the competition is becoming tense these years. I even realize that the day when the secure score is 95 will be coming soon🙁
