11 sounds like a decent number. I think I applied to like 7-8 last year as a freshman and got into like 1.

11 programs seems like WAY TOO MANY

16 different applications, 19 programs. About 10 are biology, 3 pharmacology, and 3 straight chemistry.
I did one last year and have some other experience, so, we'll see.

Are there typically interviews for summer programs, or is it just notification of acceptance?

There isn't an interview for mine, fwiw.

im applying to 2 so far. i had a huge list, but i pared it down to the two most interesting ones. im not sold on doing intensive research away from my university since im planning to take care of the mcat. it would be so much easier for me to just stay here..

anyone here do a program and successfuly prep and do well on the mcat?

Last year I applied for three. I didn't get any of them, but I ended up in the best research job I could've imagined. It ended up working out for me, but looking back I would have applied to a lot more--they said they'd had record applications because there are so few regular jobs, so I'd be a little more liberal than you might think you need. Plus these are free applications🙂

Hey Ziggyguy, are you also a college freshman? I thought undergrad summer research programs require some lab experiences. Have you been working in a lab as a freshman student? If so, congratulations to you! Hope you are doing something fun in the lab!

I've applied to about 30. Got accepted to one four days post app, interviewing for another, and I've been told the next wave of replies is coming this week.

I applied to 3, with one last application due Monday. Waitlisted at 2 so far, hearing back from the third on Monday. However... I have a summer camp job lined up as backup and also in the midst of applying for an internship (or two).
