I have already taken the DAT once in 2004. Back then, i was planning on to apply but due to personal circumstances i was not able to do so. I know the rules have changed and you are allowed to take the test no more than 3 times before you apply a waiver for the 4th time. I am now planning to take my 2nd DAT and this time I will be applying as well.

My question is , how many times can i retake the DAT? Say if I retake the test the 2nd and 3rd time and I still don't get in anywhere, will I be able to take it the 4th time if i show them proof that i applied to schools and was rejected? How do I get the waiver cleared and what happens if I still don't get in anywhere? do I have to get another waiver to take the DAT for the 5th time?

PS: I have a bad GPA but my DAT was 20+ AA when I took it in 2004, so I'm not one of those completely irresponsible test slackers fyi.

YOooo. I dunno if you can do this. But you can always take the Canadian DAT last resort. Take the american one 3 times MAX i believe I read somewhere. I am taking both because Canadian schools do not accept American DATS but American schools accept both. Maybe people are not replying because this thread has appeared numerous times and/or this is something you can read somewhere on an ADA site. In any event, I believe the MAX is 3. and if the max isn't 3 that you can take it, then its that scores will only look at your score up to the last 3 taken? Something along that lines.

tear jerks~ sniff

you can take as many as you want with proof of active application! read Ada website. the first three DAT you don't need to proof of active application but for fourth and more you must show you are applying to dental school and retaking the DAT not just retaking the DAT for geting familiar with DAT format and ...........
