how many times is it OK to retake?

So..i just took the dats in june and need to retake it and i'm not sure if I would be ready after my 90 days...in mid sept. But I do not want to wait any longer than that because then I feel I am already at a disadvantage bc schools wont get my scores until early oct. So should I take it if I am kind of ready..or would you say not take it and study more and then apply for the next cycle? I would take it in sept regardless...but is taking the DAT 3 times looked down upon?? Thanks for any help!

with that said, some schools only look at the first three DAT attempts. (I do not know the time span that they would allow for those "three DAT attempts").

That is not true. I know a person who took it 3 times and she got interview from 3 top 10s. What is important is your path, only a ******ed school would say such a thing!
Moreover, you can take DAT 3 times, without having to prove who you are. But 4 or more than 4 times you have to give them some kind of proof that you are an applicant. The only reason that they did this is that some people would take the test every 3 months and would sell the questions. So to prevent that after 4 times you need to show them that you are an applicant ( with a school letter, or Addsas for or ...) and have no business making intentions!
