How many times would you apply before giving up?

I am a re-applicant that got in the 2nd time around (definitely more ready and more prepared). I was ready to apply a third time if necessary and would have probably stopped after failing a third time.

How about you guys?

If I had not gotten in this cycle, I'd definitely have re-applied.

However, I think I would stop applying and look for a different field if I had absolutely no demonstrable improvements left to make (i.e., lots of volunteer hours logged already, pre-req's and a bachelor's completed, etc) rather than just throw money down the rabbit hole.

Once, I do not like pharmacy enough to try more than that. LOL...I could have easily settle for another career.

I first tried during my sophomore year. I realize now that I had no shot of getting in (didn't have a great rpa, had a good pcat but not a good essay/ECs)
I tried after I graduated again and got on two wait lists
I then applied to a master's program and took those classes as I applied for a third time. I finally got in after a third try (after applying to more than 2 schools)

If I didn't get in this application cycle, I would have finished my masters and then tried again. If I got rejected a fourth time, I would have give up.

As it is right now, I have only one shot. Given the opportunity I would apply a second time, if I had learned where I needed room to improve (eg more time to get experience, shadowing, additional non-required yet helpful coursework).

I'm a 40 yr old mom with 4 kids and an active duty military husband. We move a lot; we cannot afford to run two households and I need him, when he is around, to help with the kids if I am in Pharmacy school.

If I don't get in this time, I will likely go for my backup plan. If I decide I really want to give it a second shot, I may reapply to the same school and perhaps Creighton for the following cycle. (though I have no idea how I would do the on-campus requirements for Creighton anyway, but I don't have the luxury of applying wherever).

I am already 36 years old and I'll be much older by the time I complete my pre-reqs. If I don't get in my first try, I'll try once more. If I don't get it the second time, I will give up and live a depressed and frustrated life!!!!

I agree - either Pharmacy is it for you and you keep trying until you make it, or you make your peace and find something else that will work for you.

I agree with you that getting frustrated and depressed won't work. May be I'll keep applying even if it means more than two times. The problem would be pre-requisites are valid for around 5 years and once your prereqs get older than 5 years, you will have to re-take them all over again!!! Anyway, I hope I will get through in my first try

Probably would have applied 1 more time after gaining experience in a pharmacy. I didn't really doubt my chances to be accepted on my first try... I probably would have applied to more than two schools if I doubted my odds.

Depends on how much you want to enter into pharmacy. Do it right the first time and apply for as many schools as you are willing to go to increase your chances of being accepted into at least one of them.

You can apply before you complete your pre-reqs if you plan on completing the pre-reqs by the end of the academic year.

if i hadn't got in this year, i woulda tried one more time on OOS schools. thank God i was accepted 🙂
