when one applies for post grad programs [specialization]?

say when you applied for dental from undergrad in summer of 3rd year, the admission is determined based on your first 3 year grades and not the entire 4 year of your degree.

is it the same when it comes to specializing? Do most people just gun it hard up til the summer between 3/4 year and apply? or does the last year matter just as much?

thanks

Yes. Applying to specialty is the same time line (approx) as applying to DSchool. So the program will only know your first three years grades. But you cannot just sluff of you last year in neither undergrad nor dschool.

4th year grades matter if you don't get in the first time.
