By this time in the process I'm sure many people have already secured housing for next year. I'm curious as to how much other people are paying around the country. So leave a message saying how much your rent is/ where you will be living/ how many roommates/ and anything else you think is relevant.

Many people have already secured housing for next year?! Crap, I better get on this! 😱

My rent will be $825 a month in fully-furnished apartments that just opened last year. It's a little steep for my liking but I'm going to see how it works for a year. I like not having to move my furniture and how amazing the rooms look. Plus it is right on campus. I will be living with one other person. Also, all utilities(including washer and dryer, Internet, cable, etc) are included.

$500 a month, on campus, one roommate, all utilities + washer/dryer included.

I've been surfing the listings. I haven't secured housing quite yet, but I'm aiming for <$750/mo off campus house, everything included (I have furniture, so idc either way) and up to 3 graduate/ med student roomies.

Some UG's kept emailing me to be their roomie, offering me an unflexible lease term that did not fit w/ the med school academic calendar. Then they acted like I was the ignorant one for wanting to change it away from June 1st - June 1st or whatever. They couldn't understand that the med school runs from the beginning of August - End of June, and not Sep- Early May.

5 BR house, 4 people pay $300, 1 person pays $200 (smaller room). Utilities about $300 (divided by 5, so $60), so I'll be paying $360/month

1 BR apt with my SO. Less than 500 a month each!

Definitely cheap.

But after doing this for a couple years in undergrad, no way could I live with that many people again.

Most I could do is one other person, and after living by myself for a year, I will definitely be doing solo.

I've done 4 in a 2 BR APT in undergrad (don't ask lol)..5 in a 5 BR house will be lightyears better

and like you said, CHEAP!!

I'm definitely on the steeper end compared to all of you... $980 a month for a one bed in a brand new complex, free printing for the residents, washer/drier in unit and its just overall awesome. I wanted to live alone so I knew I'd be shelling out big bucks but thankfully I have some parental support and a lot of my own savings so I won't be using any fin aid to cover it

NYC

I'm goin from paying 1444 for a one bedroom to 2022 for a two bedroom

Ahh finally someone I can relate to.

Looking at $1300-1400 for my 1/2 of a 1BR.

Worth it for NYC.

Can't wait to move out of California! Currently in a 2 br apartment for $1500 (1 br's go for $1400, so I figured why not spring for an office? Worth it!). Where I'm going I'll be spending $1000 for a whole house all to myself, Mr. Mirimonster and the cat.

My wife and I found a 2 bedroom house literally just over a mile from the school for $1100/mo (Chicago area). Plus, it has a washer/dryer, which is rare for that area, apparently. 😀

Are furnished apartments really a thing that a lot of people do? Do you have to treat all your furniture like it's made of glass to avoid having your landlord make you buy it when you move out? Or is cost of eventual furniture replacement just something that's built into rent?

I currently pay $895 a month for a 2/2.5 town house. Utilities run about $150 a month. Note that I am married, so averages out to about $500 for myself, and there's always the potential for my wife and I to find a roommate to help with the rent. I live in Florida

Gotta love the midwest. I'm paying <$500/month for a pretty good-sized 2BR/1BA apartment + all utilities + cable and internet.

Too much. Boston and San Francisco tie for the worst housing markets behind NYC.

$850/mo for my own furnished room in a 2br apartment

Hello California

So jealous of all you guys with less than $700 rent! I'm paying $1250 a month, and that's with roommates.

$480 a month, on campus, furnished, internet, phone, and utilities included with no cap.

Single in a fully-furnished house of, I think, 15
$495.00/month

I guess what turns people off is the amount of people, but no one knows each other so the house is pretty quiet most of the time.

I will be paying about $650 in a house of 4, and I will probably have my own bathroom.

Anyone else avoiding signing a lease in case they get off of a waitlist last minute?

I was going to do that, but I realized that the school could potentially accept me off the waitlist a week before orientation, so I decided against waiting. But luckily, the school that waitlisted me is not too far, and I would be able to commute to it from the apt I am about to lease (thats if I dont find someone to sublet it).

In regards to OP, about to sign a lease on a 3BR apt, in which I will have my own bedroom and will pay 525/month + utilities. Not the best but its on the main street of a nice town, and the school is a 5-10 minute drive away. Plus on campus housing is close to 1000/month, so Ill be saving money in either case.

Have yet to sign my lease. I don't think I will until the day before I move, since it's already reserved for me and that is all that's left.

Apartment is a little more than $700, washer + dryer in unit, upgraded appliances. 1bedroom/1bath. 610sq. ft.

$600 for a room in a 3br condo. Fully furnished, washer/dryer and walking distance to Nova.

Will be living with two other incoming med students who went to same undergrad as me.

Sent from my Galaxy S2

$1380/ mo
2BR, 2BA
1200 sqft
Downtown high rise
Water, Electricity, Gas included

Really nice/safe part of town, >1 mile from my UG.

$400/person for 4 people in a 4BR/2BA house 2 miles from campus. Having lived with 80 girls in a sorority house and now in a 9BR senior house, I think I'd be lonely if I only lived with one other person. Fortunately I'm living with a friend since grade school and two of her friends (twins) she's known just as long. We'll all be med students so luckily we'll have the same schedules. Oh, and we're at a Midwestern state school. This is actually less than I'm paying at the undergrad campus.
