Hi all,

I am at the beginning of the process and would like to know apart from earning strong grades i the pre-req courses, what volunteer or relevant experience do I need?

Is volunteering or job shadowing required? If so, how much?

most programs require at least 1000 hours of paid medical experience at the minimum level of cna, emt, or medical asst. some of the better programs want 2000-4000 hrs.
many folks have stronger backgrounds like paramedic, rn, rt, etc.
most programs also require shadowing and community service.

As someone who has ZERO background and experience in this field, would volunteering in a physical therapy department at a hospital count?

Also, how tough is it to get in with a 3.0 GPA ish

most quality programs want paid experience with a certification.
a 3.0 is the min for most programs but consider you will be competing against folks with thousand of hrs of experience and 3.4+ gpas.
