Hi

Sorta dumb question but,
I had a pretty dope teacher in High School for English and got a 4/5 on the two AP exams thus my university gave me credit for those courses. Assuming I don't want any school to be blocked off to me, how many semesters of English would I need if any?

I was in the same situation and didn't take any college "English" classes. However some schools did require you to indicate your college English/writing classes in their secondary, and I was able to use several other classes that fulfilled the requirement, namely some science classes with an extensive writing component and two humanities classes I had taken for Honors requirements.

I'd recommend about two semesters; maybe one literature-based, and one writing-based.

The good thing about english departments is they usually have some interesting class topics. So I think you should search the lower-level offerings for something interesting so you don't have to work too hard and enjoy yourself while doing it.

You should make a serious profile if you want serious advice.

Take a class that may require reading short articles. Some philosophy or other humanities courses are good, too. May help with MCAT CARS.
