Hi, I had some rough courses and took them Pass/Fail, but actually failed on that courses like ochem and high level biology. I did a pass fail on two courses, but failed on two of them. Am I doomed? Also, I have several C courses, but they are mainly non-science courses. I am a junior in second semester and my GPA at the end of the year will be about 3.2. I have a upward trend in GPA, will my Fail in two science classes and several Cs screw me in my chances?

Um. It isn't exactly a good thing but you knew that already.

What happened? And why? And is it going to happen again? Those are the more important questions.

Two F's alone would not be the end. Two F's with a history of several C's is a red flag beyond the 3.2 GPA. You need to figure out why you are performing at your current level and adjust.

Given your academic history, I would suggest retaking courses you failed or got C's in. Get A or A- in these courses and let grade replacement do its thing. Best chances are DO with grade replacement.

Organic chemistry is a pre-req so you need to get above a C in it to even be eligible.

As stated above, grade replacement for DO or SmP if hungry for MD. For an smp, your sgpa might be too low for them so you'd need to boost that up to a 3 for consideration at most programs.

I don't understand - are you saying that you took Orgo P/F? Because you have to take it for a grade if you're applying to med school...

Sorry for not being clear. I took Orgo 1 twice, and failed the first time and got a C on the second. That makes sense right? Also, is C okay for pre-med reqs?

What is SmP?

I mean, you're kind of already stuck with it, right? You should look into taking upper division chem classes to show that you can do chem. That's about all I can think of. C won't make or break you but in the end, you do have to show that you are capable of doing science.

Yes, I am currently working my ass off and doing much better. I just want to have a reality check and see if I have at least a little bit of hope even with these Cs in pre-med reqs and few failing grades.
I know that it is the past, but I just want to check if it is still possible to get into med school if I work my ass off.

Smp is special masters program. Basically u do a year of med school classes to prove yourself worthy for admissions to med school. You don't get to skip a year if you succeed in getting an acceptance to med school. You need very high gpa in smp for it to be of any use.
