I’m a PGY-2 PM&R resident switching to anesthesiology. I was just wondering how big of an issue my funding is. Since I matched into PM&R, I have 4 years of funding. I completed a TY, and will finish one year of PM&R by July, leaving 2 years remaining. Best case scenario is me getting a CA-1 position, leaving 1 year remaining where I don’t have funding. How big of a deal is this for programs?
I only have 3 interviews so far despite having what I thought was a pretty competitive app. I’m wondering if the funding issue will result in no program realistically wanting to take me. Anyone have any experience with this kind of situation?
