How much does the college you graduate from matter?

I'm sure this is mentioned somewhere but how much does it matter what undergraduate institution you graduate from? If you graduate from Harvard/Princeton/Yale with a 3.7, is that more worthwhile than a 3.8 from a lower ranked school?

depends on course load, grade trends, etc.

I suppose you could make the case that a 3.7 from Yale is better than 3.8 from a podunk university, but at that point what it comes down to is MCAT, LORs, ECs, PS, and your interview. GPA is only one part after all.


Short answer: there is no real difference.

I actually tried to find a similar thread so I would not have to post. I found plenty on whether the medical school you go to matters, post medical school. However, I was unable to find treads on the importance of undergraduate institutions on you admissions.

Could you, ThaliaNox, point me in the right direction?
