I am thinking of applying at least 20 schools this cycle.

How much will it cost just for the application? including transcripts, DAT,

LORs, supplementals, etc?

Do the math. Whatever the cost of the AADSAS application is + DAT cost + your schools transcripts (~20 or so) + 65-75 per school's secondaries.

18 schools here... AADSAS alone (without 2ndaries) was $1451

I thought you send only one to AADSAS and they send the transcripts to the other schools? Why is it different transcripts for each school

Sorry, I was talking as transcripts as in multiple people applying.

For one person, just 1 transcript for school you attended. 🙂

Don't some schools (UCLA and UDM come to mind) also require a separate transcript?

Anyway, to the OP: OVER NINE THOUSAAAANDDDDD!!!!!!!!

UCLA and Harvard require HS transcripts. I've heard UDM is kind of an outlier in this whole process. DW probably knows more about that.

I haven't looked through the whole document but UCLA said:
Official undergraduate transcript(s) (must be sent directly to our office in addition to the copies submitted to ADEA AADSAS)
Most schools aren't going to ask for separate transcripts pre-acceptance right? Won't most of them just assume that the info we entered on AADSAS is correct unless otherwise indicated?

I forget if I sent a separate one to UCLA. I just remember the HS one.

Yes, UDM requires official college transcripts... they wanna see how heavy the applicants semesters were (prefer 15-18 credits per term especially junior + senior years)

Can't they see that from your AADSAS? I know the schools I went to all mentioned my tough schedules and I didn't independently send transcripts.

lets deduce it. lets assume dat is already taken and transcript costs are negligible

aadsas fee + average secondary fee of 50$
275+20(75)+20(50)= $2775 for applications alone.

then you have to take into account all the interviews you get. lets say out of 20 schools you get 10 interviews. if you fly out to each interview seperatly it'll run you about 400$ for each school. this is taking into account cost of plane ticket, hotel stay, cabs, etc. so 10x400= another $4000
if your lucky and you get a bunch of interviews in the same region around the same time frame then you can reduce cost by just flying out once and just traveling from school to school for about a week knocking interviews out one by one. you could potentially save thousands if your able to do this.

so in summary the most it could cost you is about $7000, but if you manage to budget it right it might just only cost about $5000

im thinking of applying to 20 schools this round. but idk, if i go through 6 or 7 interviews and feel they went really well i might reschedule some interviews for post-december. that way if i get in on dec 1st i can just cancel all subsequent interviews.

I was thinking about that too... Then I got accepted and stopped caring lol

just keep ~5k with you. Even if you get 5 interviews it shall be covered.
