I'm applying in 06, and plan to apply to 12 schools, like yourself. It's costly, but worth it.

How did you manage that, Smitty? I applied to 13 schools, paid ~$900 in application fees, and about ~$200 in DAT fees. With my two interviews thus far I have spent about $900 (airfare, rental car, food, & what nots). With all of that (not including new suit, shoes, etc.) I have spent $2000 easy.
I applied to 14 schools. So far I have spent ~$4,500. The biggest expenses are: Kaplan, AADSAS fee, secondary fees, and a suit. Travel expenses aren't that bad because I am taking the train to most schools. My personal opinion is that if I have to fly to the school for an interview, it is too far away for me.
Have any of you taken out a loan to cover the application expenses? I'm wondering if it's possible to get a loan that is academically oriented to cover the fees (like the BankOne education loan where the school doesn't need to authorize it). I'm a non-trad, under 3.0 club member and I'm taking too many credits to work and save up the money for applying this spring. I'm getting worried that I won't have enough money to apply.

Yes, it's called a credit card...

Yeah, I was afraid of that.

Umm, nope I'm applying this spring for the 2006 cycle. 😉 Maybe I should have said next spring or next summer. All I know is it's coming up too fast and too slow at the same time.
DAT cost $185 (with 2 extra schools)
Primary App = ~$600
Secondaries = ~$400
total = ~$1185
