How much is your rent?

I am paying 620+40 for cable and internet per month. It's a single apartment. I think the rent is a bit high. I don't mean to live lavishly, I just want my own place so I can have a quite environment to study and sleep without any disturbance. I not sure if it is a wise decision because it means I have to pay back more when I come out. On the other hand, I can pay 500 or less with a roommate at another place, but I would not have the same freedom. Because of this, I'm looking at paying back around 90k for 4 years vs. 80k. I feel a bit guilty. How much are you paying for your rent.

wow! the 620 includes everything except for cable and internet. Even then, i think it's expensive here.

That price sounds great to me, plus you'll only owe 90k - dang I'm jealous. The price of rent varies greatly by location so its hard to say. I would pay the extra 160 for a place to myself personally as thats really not that much more. Unless you know a good person to room with, then a place to yourself might be the way to go.
 
My two other roommates and I split $1875/month on a three bedroom, 2.5 bath townhouse (near LA), only water included.
 
Phoenix: 2BDR condo $1300/mo. plus utilities.

I'll move closer to school- Mesa/Gilbert/Tempe area next year.

$850/month for a room in a 3 BR townhome in baltimore. i pay 1/4 of utilities + cable/internet..... parking is freeeee

it would have cost me well over $1000 to live by myself, which i was opposed to doing b/c i get extremely bored and i love having people to hang out/go out with.

i pay 1060 for a converted room in a 2 bedroom coverted to 3 living arrangement in Manhattan...and 1060 is cheap. Most NYU students pay 1000to 1400 for their own room...not there own place.😱

my debt along with many other nyu'ers and upenn and a few others will be over 300k...if my debt was only 150k ...i would be 😀 but im only 😱.

I'm in Nashville and paying $950/mo for a single, 1 BR apartment + utilities. I have a nice covered parking spot too. I put bunny ears on top of my TV to save some money. 😀 However, I picked a posh complex to live in. I could probably get 2 BR apartments for the same price in this vicinity and even cheaper rents if I was willing to drive, but then I wouldn't have my garden view and more importantly, my 3 minute walking commute. 😎
 
I am at Ohio State and pay $650/month for a two bedroom (it's just me though), two story house with a basement and fenced in yard (a must for my dog), in a great area four miles from school and across from a little park. Columbus has a perfect housing market for us students.
 
2 BED/2 BATH in ATL for $1500+ Utilities. Really nice and posh, but kinda pricey compared to the rest of the city. Its all about location though. The commute is only 5mins.
 
Minneapolis this August: studio - $600/mo + electric. I thought that was high, but seeing some other posts I'm feeling pretty good.

Right now my wife and I are renting a 2BR/2BR in Des Moines, IA for $660...so location makes all the difference.
 
1400 for a 1 bed in boston with heat and hot water, and that's in the ghettoooooo!
 
$1090 in p-burgh for a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, all included except electricity, cable and internet. works out to about $600/month for each of us. 🙂

It's absolutely ridiculous how much it costs to live here, you got a pretty good deal man, but then again you do live in the middle of the east river 😉 I'm paying $1600 plus utilities for a tiny shoebox of a studio in the murray hill area of manhattan, the location is great though and it was the absolute cheapest place i could find, there are some people paying over $2000 for their own place which I just can't believe 😱
 
$564 for a studio apartment which includes garaged parking and all utilities. Cable internet is 50 bucks more=D.

I pay 1050/month + electricity + parking for one bedroom apt., its very expensive, but very good location.
 
$710 a month for 3-bedroom apartment w/ garage and yard within walking distance from school. I pay electric and gas as well. I'm married with a kid, so the three bedrooms is a must.
 
$450/month + electricity for a studio about a mile from University of Pittburgh dental school. 😀. Heat and water included.
 
In Dallas...Rent for one bedrooms run about $800-$850 and two bedrooms are $950-1050 + utilities...
I bought a place instead of renting so I pay $816 plus HOA and utilities per month...
walking distance from school..
 
University Housing...Towers, 0.31mi from d-school
apt style, $698 X 4 (roommates)=$2794
-rent includes...heat, hot/cold water & central-ac, bed,full kitchen, 24hr door attendant, common area furnished

2br 2ba, 1240sq. feet, gated appartment complex in Louisville. $834 + utilities. (Only $75 security deposit for UofL students).
 
$525/month in Long Island, includes water + heat.

Internet + cable split 6 ways (house is 2 family, 3 people per floor with a kitchen/living area on both floors), comes to about $60/month extra.
 
I live in a 4-Br/3.5 bath townhouse in a suburb 25-min North of D.C. I rent 2 of the rooms, with my own full bathroom provided and full use of the house which includes a monster 45" flat screen - all for $680/month. Utilities included. Can't complain at all.
 
Pay $410 for a studio. Internet, all utilities included. Talk about a deal in LA; I have also learned to speak a lot of Spanish (I did NOT know any Spanish) since I live on the East side of town. Love it and it's only a 15-minute drive also!!👍
 
$800 for a two bedroom in West Allis which is between 11 and 15 minutes from Marquette.
The bedrooms are small but the living, dining, kitchen, and recreation rooms are a good size.
It also includes a fenced in backyard for the dogs, free internet, laundry, and a parking space.
It is in a very nice area not far from groceries.

I found it on craigslist 🙂
 
I'll be paying $880/mo. + utilities for a single apartment in Memphis in a really nice gated community. I will definitely be looking for roommates next year.
