Hi everyone,

I am a life science student and very new to public health. i am intersted in doing MPH but looking at the course content it looks like it involves quite a lot of maths. Can plz anyone help me how much math is involed in MPH and can a student of non mathematical 😳 background be able to do maths or stats in MPH. All your comments and suggestions are welcome.

Depends on your concentration. If you're a biostatistics concentration, you'll be doing a lot more calculus and statistics than a social behavioral person (we're talking magnitudes of difference).

If your concentration is not biostatistics, the math isn't that bad. Or a better way to put it is, you will probably focus on math that is required for your field. In my program, everyone has to take an intro biostats course. But every concentration has math in their respective major courses (e.g. epidemiology involves calculations of relative risks, healthcare management has finance, social-behavioral health uses statistical analyses of large datasets, etc.).
