My Current BCPM: 3.75
Overall GPA: 3.83
Non-Science GPA (All other): 3.97

While a 3.75 BCPM is not bad, it also is not the best and below the 3.79 average BCPM of my dream medical school. Because I have finished almost all my science pre-reqs and those for my major, would it be recommendable to leave the BCPM where it is and Try to get my overall GPA to like a 3.90? Or would it be advisable to take more upper levels or padding courses (which may bring down my BCPM even more, prevent me from taking other classes I'm interested in, and likewise drag my overall down) for the chance to take my BCPM to a 3.80? Also, what are your thoughts about 1000 level math classes (I mean since I finished the requirements I should be free to take whatever I want?)

I wouldnt lose sleep over this; you're close enough that it probably wont matter.

As for what to do; I'd probably take padding classes because im neurotic but like you said its a risk that you could do more damage. How much room do you have to play around with credit load? Have you run the numbers to see how many As you'd need to get to a 3.8?

@benjamin94559

If I take 18 credits and get all A's, that'll get me to a 3.8 (though Idk if I can guarantee all A's in them. I was going to take mainly survey classes, research for credit, seminars, and intro math classes).

Can you see how the average sGPAs (accepted) is distributed each year at your dream school? I ask because you may be within the average even though you're .04 down from the listed average.

I'll just throw out two examples:
Harvard:
median 3.92
25th %ile 3.81
10th %ile: 3.7

Stanford:
median 3.85
25th %ile 3.67
10th %ile: 3.51

So as we can see, OP needs to take two of these:

This is premed paranoia : You have 3.7 sGPA which is more than solid. You have a nearly perfectly oGPA which is great. Taking 18 additional credits, with costs, time, and effort that could be applied to MCAT prep, application essay writing, volunteering, other EC, etc is, frankly, a ridiculous notion that needs to be purged from your soul

Totally agree; I would only take those extra 18 credits if it didnt involve substantially going out of my way to do so. Also if you kill the MCAT its probably very unecessary to try and get that extra 0.05 sGPA
