One of the reasons I'm interested in pharmacy is that I'm under the impression that I'll get to leave my job at work. I've heard, however, that pharmacists spend quite a bit of time doing homework to keep up on new drugs. Is this true? How much time do you spend working outside of work?

Honestly, It depends on what area of pharmacy you go into and personal decisions on how up to date you want to remain.

I do not bring any specific tasks home with me from work for my current job. I do try to keep up to date by doing CE's periodically and I enjoy reading my monthly Pharmacist's Letter, which keeps me up to speed on new pharmacy topics.

With my new job that I am about to begin, as I would like to be considered for advancement into an ambulatory position, I will be refreshing myself during some of my free time at home by reading the latest guidelines for certain chronic disease states.
