So I have the Kaplan QBank and I see people saying they annotate as they go with the explanations. I started doing this last night and it took me FOREVER to get through a 48 question block like this.

Do you guys normally go through and find the appropriate pages of FA and write notes in? Or just jot notes down on a piece of paper and then go back later and rewrite them in FA or something?

I've just been writing in the "educational objective" part from UWorld if it isn't in there already. Usually only 1-2 sentences.

I really don't write much at all either, just a phrase or two when needed. But the process of reading the answer, going to the index of FA, finding the relevant page, switching to that page, and jotting a note down (x 48), that tends to take a while for me.

My plan is to do UW x 2 so now I'm doing subject specific blocks so it doesn't take as long to find the spot where an annotation is needed.

FWIW, I've read it takes about the same amount of time to actually do the question block and review them.

I tried this whole annotating business and came to a realization extremely quick that its not for me. Even writing a few lines was a pain in the butt.

So now, I just flag questions with new/good info, so I can redo them along with incorrect questions in the last week or so before the test. I hope that works out.

As far as the time goes, it takes me about 3 or so hours to finish a block of 48 along with reviewing all the answers. I found that to be more efficient for myself.

wayrad you think this is an efficient way to remember all the new concepts? because after 3 hours of review you may feel like u remember everything but whats to say a week down the road you wont make the same mistake again? not on the same question maybe because u'll remember the answer but in a question asking the same concept?

I've done about 700 or so questions and so far, thank god, I haven't come across that many "new" concepts, and if i do, I make sure to flag the question. The purpose of the flag would be to re-visit the question AND the explanation.

Most of the time, I end up flagging questions I get right just because I want to re-visit a certain concept which IMO is high-yield after reading FA or RR. The same goes for incorrect questions, even if I get it wrong a 2nd time, reviewing the explanation will help it stick better. I cannot possibly make the same mistake 3 times haha

Hopefully, if all goes well, I will have a good 5 days before my exam to revisit my incorrect and flagged questions along with FA. Hopefully I can store all that information in my short-term memory. I guess we'll find out come doomsday in March.

45 min to do the block, ~2- 2 1/2 hours to review it
