How much will a 27 AA on the DAT offset a 3.3 GPA?

Somehow by the grace of the universe and many thanks to DAT Bootcamp and DAT destroyer I managed a 27 AA/ 26 TS/ 25 PAT on the DAT. However, I have a pretty low 3.3 gpa (3.15 sGPA). My question is, how much will my DAT score “cover up” for my dismal gpa or am I still looking at an upwards battle here. I’m not really able to do a post-bac or masters currently. Are there certain schools that take the DAT more into account than gpa? Many thanks for your input!

Personally I think it will cover up quite a bit, great job on those scores. You will certainly want to mention the challenges that caused you to under perform in school, and how you overcame them to score that high on the DAT.

I had a lower GPA and 24 AA and got into 2 schools. I did just finish a masters so that might have helped, but you’re fine for sure. Apply broadly, and early

@Superphoenix I have a very similar situation to you (27 DAT and 3.4 GPA) and am applying this cycle. Would you be open to a PM? I would love to get your advice and hear about your experience applying.

I had a lower gpa (3.2) and a 21 AA/TS and had no problem getting tons of interviews and acceptances. You will be fine

My personal advice is to meet with a counselor or someone that understands how to go over your application with you because you should be fine getting into schools. I had a 3.7 masters gpa, and 24 AA(no score below 21) and got no acceptances this year. Part of it was the schools I applied to and part was that I think my application was done poorly. I have strong service, shadowing, and extracurriculars.

What was your undergraduate GPA if you don't mind sharing. I heard some schools heavily weight only your undergraduate GPA.

3.3, so not great, below average. Definitely a factor as well.

If you're OOS and applying to Texas you need to make sure to apply through TMDSAS instead of aadsas. It gives you an advantage over other OOSers because we have three essays to write instead of one. Also out of 971 applicants last year only 7 had a 26+ that applied through TMDSAS.
