How 'new' do rec letters need to be?

If I asked for a rec letter 2 years before applying, would it be better to ask the writer to change the date to make it more recent, even if I have not interacted with my letter writer since then? Or does that not matter?

Check in the med school's websites. As an example, Baylor wants them to be no older than your previous academic year.
