how often are acceptances released?

if a school makes its first acceptance announcement on oct 15th, how often are the next acceptances made?

1 week? 2 weeks? 1 month?

i know that most schools say that in general an applicant will hear back in 4~6 weeks.
i'm asking not in regard to an individual applicant timeline, but how busy these schools get to release their results.

Depends entirely on the school. One school I applied to sent out some acceptances monthly, one sent them out weekly, and one sent them out on distinct days throughout the season (I think there were 3 such dates). I'm sure every variation in between is also seen.

I agree with mvenus . Your best bet will be to follow the school-specific threads, and if you want a peak at how the school has previously done it, then look at the past school-specific threads. I would say that in my experience it's mostly once every few weeks, but entirely variable by school.
