I've never been a big fan of public speaking. There was maybe 20 people in my speech class. How is presenting in med school different than undergrad?

Once here (during years 1 and 2) at ohio state.

You will likely have to give a presentation or two in the first couple of years. But in rotations, you will be presenting patients to folks pretty regularly.

I think this varies widely by school. We do a lot of small group presentations during the preclinical years (10-20 people), and some stuff in front of larger groups.

Public speaking is one of those things that gets a LOT easier if you do it a lot. I used to hate it, but deliberately took courses in undergrad that would force me to do it because it's a really helpful skill to possess. After a while, it stops sucking and actually gets to be kind of fun. And having good presentation/public speaking skills will serve you well for the remainder of your career.

Well, if you go to med school with PBL like the Cleveland Clinic, you'll be presenting a powerpoint at least once a week... sometimes twice.

But you get used to it... as med students/doctors/etc you'll be presenting all the time... we all suck at it at first, but with time, it'll get better....

nothing to stress too much over.

I would like to know too. I just gave a presentation for school to about 25 people and couldnt sleep the 2 nights before and was anxious the whole day. Sure when the time came I went into my other personality and delivered it unnervous, loud and professional. But that time worrying about it beforehand is ULCER forming.🙁

I've had a few presentations -- probably 2 per semester or so. In the first year we had to give a couple of presentations in front of the whole class, then there were a few small group activities where we would have to present something in a group of 4-5 people, which was a bit more laid back. Now in the second year we have patient presentations where we present individually to a small group (8 people). I still get pretty nervous, but it's not that bad. You'll get used to it!
