Everyone in here appears to be so old, pushing 30 and already with degree that I'm just curious as to how old you SDNers actually are. I'm a sophmore and 18.

I'm 27, nothing smart or unusual here. Start medical school in August.

Regarding the mdapplicant profile link - that is a pretty freaky background. I thought Harvard didn't give full rides, but if they do, she deserves it!

I don't know; people have said that before, but there could be a possibility it was awarded through some other mechanism. She is a Native American, math major, concert pianist, ect. From one or a combination of these activities she could be getting something from some obscure source. Everyone here I'm sure has looked into scholarships and seen some weird reqiuements. One I remember was "Premedical student, one iranian parent, community college student, president of a local activity, blah blah". They get pretty specific...

Anyway, it's also an example of the perfect applicant in every aspect: Research, volunteer work, unique EC, great stats, ect.

There isn't anything really to boast about you going to medical school at a younger age. I mean after med school you are going to work for the rest of your life. Now, if you are 19 and you just won the Nobel Peace Prize, I will be reallly impressed. Or if you are 13 (Asian kid thats in medical school) year old going to med school thats impressive.

27 years old, got an MPH, starting med school this fall! 👍 it's about time!

24, turning 25 this year. 2 Bachelor's, 1 job, 3 cities, and 1 Master's later, I'm starting med school in the fall. Hurrah for career #2!

23...whats the average for matriculants these days anyway? Ive heard the numbers 24 and 27 thrown around

I'm 26 in 3 weeks. BS + post-bach work, no masters degrees of any kind. I hope to be in medical school by the time I'm 27 😉

Not living in the US, so don't question it. 20 years old and finishing first year in 2 weeks 🙂 .

Impressive yes; but I quoted mine because the girl was only 18. Imagine what she could have done with an extra four years.

Yes, but that one of those that I look at to show that some of these aren't true. What are the odds that someone would be native american, have perfect grades, a near perfect MCAT, and have those other experiences.

It could happen. Why not? Stranger things have.

20 yrs old here, work full time (40+ hours/week) and go to class (between 9 to 11 credits), work in a prosthetics/orthotics office training to be a CO (certified orthotist) then I'd like to join the military medical corps (do the marines have a medical corps?), then I'd like to pursue either my MD or DO, don't care which.

I don't believe anything till i see the results. If she took the MCAT last year then I know for a fact that the info about her getting a 44 on the MCAT is wrong. A Native American can score a 44 on a MCAT but the highest score last year was a 42. I don't think anyone made a 44 last year.

21 Class of 2010 with any luck.

41 and entering my first year at Indiana U Med. Twelve years in healthcare and another six in hospital information technology. Mid-life crisis? Nah, just fulfilling a long overdue dream.

congrats and good luck! 👍
