I will be taking the DAT in a week and unfortunately I don't think I will have time to go through DAT destroyer for the chemistries. I am currently doing practice tests on Bootcamp and my scores are fairly good. Is bootcamp representative of the actual exam for the chemistry sections? In other words, do you think I can do decently okay on the DAT just by practicing with Bootcamp and knowing how to answer those questions?

Thanks in advance 🙂

I would say yes, fairly representative. If you know the concepts, any calculation question should be easy. Be firm and confident in the topics and learn from your mistakes.

Yes, I'd say they are representative. I was scoring 17-19 on both GC and OC and on the real thing I scored 20 in OC and 19 in GC.

I would say it is representative in terms of material. However, I had a handful of questions in both the chemistry sections that were worded in a completely different way that I had not seen in any practice material. (Not trying to scare you or anything) It was the same content though. I averaged 22-23s on BC and scored 27 G and 23 O Chem on the real thing.

I just wrote my DAT this morning and Bootcamp was very representative of the Gen Chem, in my opinion. Bootcamp is slightly harder (more calculations) but the conceptual questions are spot on. I was averaging 17-19 in Bootcamp (19s closer to test day) and I scored a 20 on the real thing. I wouldn't expect a huge magic jump compared to whatever you're averaging, but the test FELT easier than Bootcamp when I was taking it and that helped my confidence. Good luck and I hope you reach your goal scores!

I'd say that bootcamp is pretty similar. As the others said, there are more conceptual questions on the DAT compared to bootcamp, which can be a little tricky. But if you have the theory down, you should be set to do well for those questions. The calculation questions tend to have answer choices with values plugged into a specific equation - so you don't really have to calculate much, you just need to know which equation to use and how to use it.

Remember that bootcamp gives you a few questions of each subsection of genchem in the practice exams; there are many ways that the material of those subsections can be manipulated and asked in questions. So I wouldn't rely on the idea that if you do well with the questions on bootcamp you'll definitely do well on the DAT, because you just might happen to get asked questions you haven't practiced. That being said, it might be beneficial for you to do a at least a little bit of destroyer in addition to practicing on bootcamp.
