How selective do you think I can be?

Neurobiology major from top 10 University
3.4 cGPA, 3.36 sGPA
33 MCAT
2 years research
190 hours shadowing 2 DOs
60 hours shadowing 5 MDs
Observed 19 surgeries
Volunteered 2 summers in Oncology clinic
Secretary of Neurobiology Club at University
Worked at restaurant and doing construction during school
Middle class Caucasian male
Neither of my parents went to college

I know I am competitive for many DO schools but I'm wondering how selective you think I can be? I don't want to just go wherever I get in, I want to be able to pick between a few desirable locations. Anything I can do over the next 6 months to better my application? I'm worried my GPA will really hurt me.

Do you have a letter from one of those DO's?

Your GPA's are okay and your MCAT will be a major asset. With a DO letter you will have a good shot at just about every school (aside from maybe some of the more selective state schools).

For reference, I only applied to what I considered the top 10-15 schools, received 4 interviews resulting in one acceptance and a post-interview waitlist. Your app is a lot stronger than mine as far as clinical experiences go so you may have a better shot than I did.

Apply to your top 10 schools or so and I would think you have a great chance at minimum 1-2 acceptances.

IMO, you can be fairly selective among the higher tier schools.

I do have a letter from one of the DOs. It's not super strong but still good since he's a DO and it says all positive things.

You should have no problem getting an ii at any DO school you apply too. I have similar stats (higher GPA, but lower MCAT) and a lot less EC's and was able to get 20 ii's by applying early. Apply early and you should have your pick of top tier DO schools.
