You have a few weeks and a few thousand dollars? Get STNA training + license. Then go to indeed.com, search for STNA/patient tech/nursing aid jobs (plenty).
Have about 6 months? Get an EMT-B license and work in an emergency room.
Hospices require 5-10% (I forget) of their employee hours to come from volunteers or risk collecting from medicare. They are ALWAYS looking for volunteers. Go sit with dying patients.
Nursing homes and local clinics are other places to look. I'd pick a free clinic, low-income clinic, or family-planning clinic first, but you could also consider volunteering in a private doctor's office.
