In 1 month, I begin General Chemistry 1 and General Biology 1 on my path to become a physician. I have a business degree and I only took integrated science classes (which don't teach you jack) so I was wondering how I should spend this next month preparing to immerse myself in biology and chemistry. I don't have a book yet and I don't know what to expect. I'm a very visual learner, so youtube/khan academy type resources would be the most helpful.
Seeing as how the majority of you have been-there-done-that and many of you came from non-science backgrounds, what do you recommend I do to prepare myself?

Gen Chem 1 and Bio 1 assume you know just the basics from high school. It's designed for people that don't know much of anything. Just read before class, stay on top of assignments, and get help when you need it. You'll do great as long as you want to.

No need to spend a month in preparation for these classes. You don't need to know a single thing to be honest. Some basic algebra will be handy for Gen Chem that anyone can pick up.. and Gen Bio will involve a lot of memorization for the most part.

Do nothing on those topics. The classes will assume nothing beyond high school knowledge, and doing well in the classes is as much about adjusting to the professor and the assignments as it is about raw knowledge.

The only thing potentially worth doing in your own time is brushing up on basic math and algebra (logs, exponents, simple algebraic equations) if you think you're rusty on that stuff. It'll smooth the way in chem.

Here is a great resource I used:

http://www.professorfink.com/BIOLOGY_3_LECTURE.html

He breaks everything down into basics and then repeats concepts multiple times. His Introduction to Chemistry videos helped me a lot with the Chemistry discussed in BIO 1. Every professor is different. It doesn't hurt to familiarize yourself with the basics if you are a Non trad who has been out of school for a while or if you don't feel confident.

Thanks all! I was actually a high school dropout who never took a science class, so even the basics of chem and bio didn't really happen for me! If they cover all the basics, I'm not going to stress out too much about it, but I could still use a crash course beforehand

beBrave, thank you for the resource. I just checked it out and it seems very highly rated!
