How should I study for DAT?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would start off with Kaplan Blue book for starters. Read through the Chem and Organic section (the bio section in this book is pretty crappy). Biology I would use AP Cliffs Biology. Take notes, reread, use wikipedia, google things you dont know, make sure you really understand the concepts behind chemistry and orgo. After you feel you have a firm grasp of the concepts, I would try to get some practice materials to work through such as Kaplan Subject Tests and Destroyer. After you have gone through these a few times (yes few times) I would move onto full lenght tests in order to get the timing down. Dont worry about the # questions you get wrong while you are taking these practice tests, rather try to learn from your mistakes. If you got a chemistry problem wrong which dealt with rate laws go back and reread that section, do a few rate law problems, make it stick in your head and try not to repeat that mistake. Do this for every problem and it will definitely help you in the long run. For PAT section, I used Crack DAT PAT the 10 tests one. I found that they were challenging but I wish I had practice more on a consistent basis so make sure you do a little everyday even if it isnt a timed PAT test. Math-some people are good at it others arent. If you are like me and arent good at math I suggest getting your hands on an SAT MATH 1C or 2C subject test book (i like the princeton review math review book for this) Go through it and then work on problems. Try to find short cuts and tricks to solving the problem better. Good luck studying!

Start with Kaplan BB, and end with Destroyer. Reading other posts will also give you an idea of what kind of study strategy would best suit you.

reading the personal breakdowns that are posted almost daily is a great way to see the variety of materials that people are using.

Please help me on how should i study for DAT. What is better kaplan, DAT destroyer!

Unfortunately there is no one perfect book for preparing for the DAT. Its best to study from a variety of sources to be fully prepared. I would also start with the Kaplan book - I think its the best all around book, but is a bit weak for the biology section and for the PAT. I would get either cliff's AP bio or schaum's biology to get better coverage for the biology section. For the PAT section I suggest Crack DAT PAT. For practice tests I thought TopScore Pro was the best computer simulation. I personally did not use Destroyer, but have heard it is also very helpful, but you need a good review in all the sciences first because destroyer is more a set of practice questions with detailed answers. Good luck!

Schaum's biology
Cliff's AP Bio

You should get anything you can get your hands on. Plan to take it once and never again.
