Hey sdn!

Not sure if this question has been asked before (trust me I checked) but I just needed quick some advice. Do you think that there is a certain way I should take my classes. For instance, I was hoping to take Bio I & II, Chem I & II, Phy. I & II, Org Chem. I & II, and Calculus I & II before I took recommended classes such as Genetics, Phyisology, Micro. Bio., etc.. I am in this dilemma because of full classes at my school and I hate waiting for people to drop even though that is probably logical. Any ideas?

This really depends on a lot of factors. What year are you? How strong a student are you? Where are you strong or weak subject wide? Generally bio & chem are good to start w if possible as they are multiyear sequences while the others (math & physics ) are only 1 yr of freshmen lvl (easy) courses.

Definitely start chem ASAP. Because you HAVE to take a minimum of 4 semesters (Gen Chem I, II, O Chem I, II). If you can handle it coming straight into school, take bio and chem your first year, physics and o chem your second, or some sort of variation. This will also prepare you to take the MCAT as early as the summer after your sophomore year.

I am actually already done with my A.A and Im going into my bachelors, so I guess the general concensus is to start with the required classes and save the recommended ones for later?

My suggestion is to take Bio I and Chem I simulatneously followed by Bio II and Chem II in first year. Of course, other required classes for your major will be taken as well during the same time.

Then take O chem I and O chem II in your 2nd year. You can take physics with O chem.

And you will be ready for MCAT prep during your third year before taking the test in spring semester.
