How soon can i take the DAT after i register. or is there like a month wait or something? i plan to take it in about a month, maybe less. im applying next year, but im just trying to get the DAt out of the way.

you get eligibility letter the tuesday after you register with the ada then you can schedule your exam any day you want as long as the test center has an opening.

That's not true! They've changed that this year. It only takes them 24 hrs to process your eligibility letter.
Also, there's no waiting period. As long as the center you're interested in has an opening, you can take it whenever after you register for it. You can register on Monday, and if there's anything available for Wednesday you can take it then. But they encourage you to register at least 3-4 weeks in advance just to make sure they have an opening for you.

I don't know where nze82 get his info from but my registration letter stated "Your Dental Admission Test application has been received. Your application ID number is xxxxxxxxxx.
DAT applications are processed on Tuesdays." And indeed i got the letter on a tuesday it could of been a coincidence

Once you get your confirmation you'll be elgible to pick a date as long as theres availability at the testing location.

I get my info simply by looking at the dates of the two e-mails I received from ADA. Although they do mentioned that the applications are processed on Tuesdays only, in reality, it only takes them 24 hrs to process the application and send you the eligibility letter. They'll tell you the same thing if you call ADA and ask them.

I prefer to back my claims up with sufficient proof🙂
Nah dude! it's all good. I just wanted the OP to know when he/she should expect his/her eligibility letter to arrive.
People make multiple posts and sometimes those posts are contradictory to one another, which ends up confusing the OP even more. I just posted the snapshots, so he/she can actually see dates and have a definite answer for his/her question.

thanks guys...a friend who took it last year said i had to register 2-3 months in advanced and i plan to take it soon so that kinda scared the **** outa me lol. Thanks. Really appreciate it 🙂👍

Cool, now I can remove my snapshots. I'm always paranoid of posting a snapshot of my email page on any website for too long.:laugh:
Good Luck!👍

When I signed up for my DAT on June 1st, I think i saw couple DATs available around mid-June... so I guess you can schedule upto 2 wks early. but live in an area with many test centers around, so i guess i had more test centers to choose from. to be on the safe side, try signing up at least 3 weeks before!! 🙂
