Hey guys.... i was wondering, how specific or general are the questions on TS and kaplan (the two tests that come with the blue book) compared to the real DAT? cuz it looks like both the kaplan and TS tests are very specific.
also, i have taken the first two TS test and the two kaplan exams that come with the book and my averages in the science have been around 16s...do u guys think i am ready to take the exam ( i really wanna get 20s across the board on the sciences!). thanks for you inputs in advance.

From my experience, the general chem and organic sections are more specific on the kaplan tests. If you study the kaplan review notes for these sections, you will probably do well on the actual DAT. On the other hand, the biology section is a little different. I studied really hard from the kaplan review notes and i saw some questions on the Dat that dealt with evolution that I never saw before. I would say about 1/2 of the section was evolution and genetics which really surprised me. hope this helps!

the above poster is correct however he proves a good point. On my science section there was only one simple genetics q and no evolution. The classification where very basic too. Its hard to say what will be on your test...Both gen and o chem are easier than topscore or kaplan. All of the problems are setup and dont need to be worked out. Basically u just need to understand the structure of the correct formula. Work slowly and think about ur answers. On your practice tests try to have about 10-15 mins left at the end of the section to check your work. Good luck

Bio: As the others have mentioned, this section is very specific and you should look at some review sources other than Kaplan.

Chem: Kaplan Book covers this well.

Orgo: Same as above.. Possibly the easiest section on the exam.
Just know SN and E type reactiosn like the back of your hand.

As for you getting 20's on the real thing when you have 16's on the practice exams.... Well, though Topescore IMO is harder than the real thing, you aren't going to go up that much in the sciences, maybe 2-3 points or so... If you want the 20's I think you need to keep reviewing..

Study until you think you know everything then take the practice exams.. I waited till the very end to take any full lengh exams and used them more to perfect my timing as well as get used to the computer format.

Best of luck to you 👍 👍

You probably remember a few TS questions that made you say, "What kind of a question is that!" (Specifically in Bio). From my experiences there were a couple like that on the real thing. Its very important to use what you do know and eliminate wrong answers because you can never learn it all.
