So I took the MCAT back in April 2008. I'm preparing to apply again since I'm fairly confident at this point I won't be getting off the wait list. I'm reading one of the Medical School books and I notice that a lot of schools want scores from within the past 3 years meaning my 2008 scores would not be accepted in theory. How lenient are they on this subject? Do schools ever make exceptions? Obviously I'd rather not have to retake the MCAT if I do not need to. Thanks for any help.

Pretty sure schools are very strict, otherwise they wouldn't have the requirement. I doubt that anyone would make an exception for you. Sorry. 🙁

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you will be hard-pressed to find a medical school that will take a score from 2008.

Nope. This is an often reported but totally false pre-allo myth.

There are approximately 60 schools that will take a September 2008 MCAT. April will cut it back a bit, but I would bet there will still be at least 30. Get access to the MSAR online (only $15) and go through the list.

Thanks yeah I know there are definitely schools that take 4yearold and 5 year old MCATs, unfortunately there's definitely one's I'm going to want to apply to that say they want 3 year old MCATs. Oh well, I guess back to the books.

Have you tried contacting schools directly? If there's only one or two that you're totally set on that won't take your school, it would probably be worth getting the official word from their dean of admissions (not the secretary who answers the phone) before you start trying to tackle the MCAT beast again.
