Hey guys,

So I just received DAT destroyer and Im I wanna get started with it but before I do - I was wondering what method you guys used to study from it - and what you think is the best way of doing it? Did you do the problems on scrap paper or in the book? Did you do you check the solutions to each question one at a time, or did you do a whole lot of questions first and then go back and check the solutions and compare them to your answers?

Basically - what method did you use to study from the DAT Destroyer and what method do you think works best?? I need to do as well as I possibly can on the DATs because of my LOW GPA!!!

Thanks for your input!!🙂

Well basically the Destroyer was my main study guide because it went through all of the main concepts in thoroughly explained explanations. Depending on how much time you have and how you usually study i would first go through each question looking understanding and memorizing the explanations associated with them and then the next time around go back and try doing them on your own. Whatever works best for you! Enjoy it and Good Luck!

i made it the one source of consolidated info.

for bio, i'd answer the questions in my head or use a pencil and lightly circle the answer. After 3-4 questions or whatever was on the page, I'd flip to the answer key and check my answer. I'd highlight any info I didn't know or wanted to make sure to memorize. If I thought there was additional info I wanted to add that was related to the particular topic the anwser was about, I'd write it in.

If there was a particular topic, I wanted to go back to (toughies, i.e. ecto, endo, meso and what they become) I'd get a post it tag and label it for further memorizing.

with gen chem and math, i'd do problems and whichever i got wrong, i'd dissect the answer to see what i was/wasn't doing. i'd tag it and move on. then i'd immediately restart that section, doing only the tagged questions. removing tags and putting up new ones.

orgo i was pretty proficient at since i had just taken it - but i tagged the 5 or 6 i'd miss and kept them tagged to make sure i knew how to do them.

hope this helps!

also, since there are so many questions, you may want to split the sections in half. do half, move onto another subject. i kept myself from getting too bored - not orgo and bio though -- no one could get bored reading that stuff 😍

What I did was look at all the questions last. I went right to the solutions for all the sections. I studied the destroyer solutions like you would the kaplan blue book. After studying the solutions, I then hit the Q's. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. Good luck!

Thanks for your comments! You guys have some great scores. Those scores are insane Clover! I'm gonna try and emulate some of the things that worked best for you guys. It seems like a really great book so far and it sounds like it has been reallllly helpful to a LOT of people!!
