throughout my first two years: I am going to ace my Step 1
five weeks before: I can definitly beat the mean
three weeks before: I am sure I can get close to the mean
one week before: I am sure I can pass, first aid is ok right?
two days before: GOD PLEASE LET ME JUST PASS THIS THING and whatever happens don't let me pass out during the exam.

We'll get through this, just keep as positive as possible, and whatever will be will be. I am interested in competitive fields and hope I have the right to still pursue them after this thing... Anyways, good luck Sunflower!! You will do fine, and I would think FA should be enough at this point.

i know exactly how you feel. i take it in 15 days (jun 10) and right now all i want to do is pass it and get it overwith. well, i kinda shift between wanting to get it overwith and wanting to do really well on it. i guess i'm just now starting to burn out from studying 8 hrs a day without breaks for 3 weeks straight. 🙁

The more I study..the more I realize I don't know. I'm also taking it June 10..tiaz..I'll be thinking of you also suffering at the same time as me.

I have to get to microbiology one of these days yet..I've realized I know nothing about parasites (worms ect)....that may have to be my major subject just before the exam...so its fresh......

Man...I know I'll be okay..but I feel screwed...

i know a little bit about everything, but not a whole lot about any one of the things. there are some areas i know pretty good but others i just suck at, renal physio being one. i'm going to have to make a cheat sheet with ovarian and testicular tumors on it and just read it over and over again right up until i step foot into the exam room or something. for some reason i just can't keep that straight. another thing i always screw up is what the alpha2 receptor is coupled to, i think it's Gi/cAMP? alpha1 is Gs/IP3 i think. (that's probably wrong, cause i can never keep that straight). anyway my point is we all have things we suck at, moss. don't feel too bad about it. i'll be thinking of you too when i'm contemplating dropping out and being a mechanic or something halfway through this test. good luck to all.

Anything vasoconstrictive (M3 and a1) are coupled to Ip3/DAG for Ca++ influx.

a2, B1, B2 are coupled to cAMP, with a2 decreasing and the betas both increasing cAMP...just so everyone is on the same page.

yeah see what i mean, it's like i'm forced to remember it incorrectly. my friend asks me that question every day and every day i get it wrong. but that's a good way to keep it straight, a1 constricts so it's natural that it'd recruit Ca influx. thanks for the tip.

Here's how I remember what each receptor couples to:

If you know Gq couples to Phospholipace C, IP3, DAG, Ca++, etc.. and Gs increases cAMP while Gi does the opposite then use the following:

for sympathetics - KISS (qiss) as in alpha1-Q alpha2-I Beta1-S Beta2-S
for parasympathetics KICK (qiq) as in M1 - Q M2-I M3-S
for dopamine and histamine SIX (siqs) as in D1-S D2-I H1-Q H2-S
and for vasopresin - just gota remember QS V1-Q V2-S

Why do brochioles/uterus/blood vessels get dilated during sympathic responses (all B2)? How does cAMP's increase cause all these?
