Obviously favorably, but if you worked or did something that helped you pay your way through undergrad while still maintaining top grades how impressive is this to adcoms.

They'll be 31% impressed.

to and missing question mark.

It depends on how full time you are and what you're doing for work.

One day I will find you, and on that very same day you will be falcon punched in the face.😀

the OP appears very naive. Adcoms favor students who have parents paying for their every whim. A student with a BMW is clearly going to be on time for his rotations more often than a student commuting in a used Camry.

A better thread would have been "Would working full time during undergrad make up for poor grades?" or "If I was working full time during undergrad, would adcoms forgive me for not having as many ECs since I didn't have time for them?" Instead, this thread is: "If I work full time, am I awesome?"

Muffintop is far too short-sighted to ask such questions. Instead, muffinette is wondering just how awesome it would be if it worked full-time in a bakery attempting to recreate its own naive muffin-goodness.

I proclaim that this thread shall now be about muffins. The only good ones are those chocolate ones with chocolate chips.

Omg omg omg, my favorite site ever. I hadn't been to it in like 10 years, but this is so appropriately perfect. I envy the delight you are about to experience. Enjoy:

It was upon a dreay night
When I heard it said
That old man muffin
Had risen from the dead

He was a crusty muffin
The last of his tin
When mister Turnpike did him in

The muffin wanted its revenge
He wanted Turnpike dead
So he crept to Turnpike's bed

He gently woke Turnpike
With a muffin song
And bid old Turnpike come along

Down the hall the muffin sailed
With Turnpike at his back
Trundling after the fatal snack

The muffin slipped inside the oven
Turnpike followed in
And old man muffin did him in

So watch out for that muffin
Follow it nowhere
And of all baked goods
Beware! Beware!

Dude. Loved that. 👍

Apparently people eat muffins with meat in them.

Exactly. And let us not forget that "playing on-line poker 40 hours a week" is not what AdCom's consider "working full time". Just sayin'.

Dude wtf. Your thread-to-post ratio is approaching the number of times out of 1000 that a fat kid chooses chocolate over exercise. And let me tell you, that's a lot of times.

Kindly leave my SDN and take your FAIL with you.

If one pays taxes and supports themselves doing that, then it should be considered work. It wouldn't be no different than doing kids' birthday parties as a clown.

As far as the op's question is concerned, I always thought that having a full time job was down there with shadowing. I've always assumed that a 3.9 GPA, 37 MCAT, no job would have a much better chance at getting an acceptance over somone with a 3.5 GPA, 30 MCAT, and full time job., with all other variables being equal.

Thems is a lotta "if" statements, thar. :meanie:

Additionally, there is something to be said about having work experience where you have a clearly defined management structure. I.e. you have a boss and know how to deal with good, bad, and ugly bosses. I would imagine that speaks more directly to an AdCom's interests than any kind of freelancing/entrepreneur/self-managed type of income-earning-activity.
